The Little Corporal Prefers Burgundy

Who was “The Little Corporal“ you ask? This was a meant-to-be comical name given to the short, little world-conquering emperor Napolian Bonaparte back in his day. I came across a very interesting report about the little man who wanted to conquer the world. It is a bit long, but very amusing! I share it here with my link if you want to learm something about our famous Napolian and his fancy for a great Gevry-Champlin burgundy. Link:  Boozingwithbonaparte

The movie: “Bottle Shock“

Night before last, Sally and I watched “Bottle Shock“ on Amazon Prime Videos. It was a good movie about the first California winemaker back in the 60’s who shocked the long estalished international wine producers of France and Italy by winning a blind wine making contest. A true story worth watching if you enjoy the experience of drinking great wines. We believe you will enjoy it.

Red or White I Can Enjoy Both!

I’m always open to try a new wine! If I’m just sipping I tend to go for a nice red. However, a cool crisp white can also be so enjoyable. My wife Sally loves her chilled, buttery chardonnay. It’s easy for me to join her with her favorite. I prefer to be more choosy if food is involved. For sure, I want to pair the right red with my meat entree and a good white with my poultry or seafood. You probably do too, but can you break the rules? Absolutely! It’s your own personal taste. Like we used to say back in the 60’s “If it feels good, just do it!”

You Love Wine Right?

Sure! Well, a few of us at “The Retreat” a 55+ community, here in Livingston, Texas have decided to meet every other month at a different member’s house to enjoy each other’s company, learn something new about our favorite wines and well, just have a good time! We have formed our new wine-social club and given it a name: “Mi Casa Vino” (my house wine). Every other month, we will taste two new wines, one red and one white. Our host for the scheduled, every other month get-together will choose their featured wines selections for our “tasting.” Exciting! Always something new to try in our wine adventures! This is just a quick note to introduce “Mi Casa Vino” and set the table for some interesting, new opportunities to get together and enjoy some fellowshipping with a glass of wine! Stay tuned more to come. Your founder - Melton Carr 108 Getaway Place, The Retreat
